Mega Evolution: Coming 26th September 2025
September 26, 2025 is the day that the new Pokemon TCG set 'Mega Evolution' arrives in the UK.
Types of Cards You’ll Find in the Set
-
Mega Evolution Pokémon ex — 10 cards are confirmed to date, including Mega Lucario ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, Mega Venusaur ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex, and others. The identity of an Electric‑type Mega (likely Ampharos or Manectric) is yet to be revealed.
-
Illustration Rares (22) – Beautifully detailed Pokémon artworks.
-
Ultra Rares including Trainers, Tool, Item, and Stadium cards (22) – For the first time ever, these staples get the ultra‑rare treatment.
-
Special Illustration Rares (10) – Featuring Mega Pokémon ex and Supporter cards.
-
Trainers (15+) – A full batch of gameplay boosters, giving you strategic depth beyond the Mega Evolutions.
-
A shiny new art style for Full Art Mega Evolution ex: each Ultra Rare shows the silhouette of its non‑Mega counterpart behind the evolved form (think Lucario’s regular form ghosting behind Mega Lucario).
-
High‑risk, high‑reward design: Mega Pokémon ex pack a punch with massive HP and damage, but if knocked out your opponent snags three Prize cards, not two.
The Product Lineup
-
Booster packs & blisters – Single booster packs, 3‑pack blisters, plus checklane and premium blisters.
-
Enhanced Booster Boxes – Each display box includes 36 packs and a bonus promo card (Bulbasaur‑stamped topper!)
-
Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs) – There are two ETB styles, but unlike Black Bolt & White Flare they contain the same cards rather, so the only real difference is the design of the box and the promo cards. The promo cards are Riolu & Alakazam.
-
Booster Bundles & Build & Battle Boxes – You'll find 6 booster packs per Booster Bundle, & as this is a main set there will be pre-release events and Build & Battle Boxes.
-
Mini Tins: Mega Heroes Mini Tins come with two booster packs, an art card, and a collectible coin (note that rumour says these mini tins will contain 1 Mega Evolution booster pack and 1 Destined Rivals booster pack. An odd move for a main set!
Expected “Chase” Cards
Think of the chase candidates as a blend of nostalgic dreams and shiny new surprises:
-
Mega Lucario ex & Mega Gardevoir ex – Fan favorites that are already spotlighted in marketing and product artwork.
-
Mega Venusaur ex & Mega Kangaskhan ex
-
Full Art Trainers/Tool/Item/Stadium Ultra Rares – Being a first for full‑art across these card types, competitive TCG players will likely be after these.
-
Bulbasaur promo topper, Riolu/Alakazam ETB promos – These are limited bonus cards. Like the Journey Together 'Enhanced Booster Box' certain Mega Evolution booster boxes will include a special stamped Bulbasaur promo card.
